Protecting Our
Ozark Waters
H2Ozarks leads a bi-state effort to preserve our region’s most precious resource
Since 2001, H2Ozarks works to protect and improve watersheds throughout the Ozarks of Southern Missouri and Northwest Arkansas. We fulfill our mission by promoting community collaboration, public policy, scientific research, and local solutions.

Our Approach to Cleaner Waters
Our Ozark watersheds face threats from aging infrastructure, agricultural runoff, and increased development. Here’s how we’re addressing these challenges across Arkansas and Missouri:
Septic Tank Remediation Program
Connecting homeowners to funding and resources that repair septic failures and prevent pollution
Watershed Management Plans
Supporting plans that effectively manage water resources and shape the future of our watersheds
Landowner Assistance Programs
Collaborating with local landowners to support land management and improve water quality.
Water Quality Monitoring
Collecting data that identifies changes in the water quality of our lakes, streams, and tributaries
Education and Outreach

“We are very thankful for the H2Ozarks [septic program]. This came at such a perfect time for us as our old septic tank was failing and we desperately needed a new one. Stefanie was just wonderful, answering all of our questions and assisting us throughout the whole process. We are very appreciative of both her and the assistance provided by this program.”
Diana and David from Arkansas, recipients of a STRP grant
“The staff at H2Ozarks is knowledgeable, friendly, and always open to sharing ideas or lending a hand at local events. Their hard work has certainly made a positive impact on water quality and the lives of many local residents that have benefitted from their programs and services.”
Brent from Missouri, member of the James River Basin Partnership
“H2Ozarks emboldens our non-profit community to continue to protect our water resources in southwest Missouri. Missouri Smallflows Organization (MSO) has partnered with H2Ozarks on numerous occasions to educate the public, build funding resources, and bring awareness to water quality issues. Their expertise and professionalism in coalescing diverse parties to come to a common goal is most inspiring… Working with this organization has provided MSO with further outreach opportunities to educate the public about onsite wastewater treatment systems, furthering our own goals.”
Tammy Trantham, Executive Director of Missouri Smallflows Organization
